It is also an alkylamine and belongs to the group of surface-active compounds.

3-Lauryloxypropylamine is slightly soluble in water. It is a short chain fatty amine. It is alkaline, and as an organic base has irritating and corrosive effects on the skin and mucous membranes. Contact with it may irritate skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It may be toxic if ingested, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. 3- Lauryloxypropylamine is used in the manufacture of other chemicals. 3- Lauryloxypropylamine also has excellent emulsifying, dispersing, antistatic, anti-corrosion, lubricating and solubilizing abilities.
