Sodium nitrate ——Provide nutrition for plants and improve soil properties

Sodium nitrate is an inorganic substance. Colorless transparent triangular crystal. Sodium nitrate  is very soluble in water and liquid ammonia, in methanol and ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone and slightly soluble in glycerol. When dissolved in water, it absorbs heat, the solution becomes cold, and the aqueous solution is neutral. Sodium nitrate  can provide nutrition for plants and improve soil properties. Improve the effectiveness of phosphorus and trace elements and promote the formation of organic acids. It also helps to release phosphorus and trace elements in soil particles into soil solution. Improve the utilization of water by plants. It can reduce the transpiration of plants and improve the absorption efficiency of soil water. Reduce the absorption of chlorine by plants in soil solution or irrigation water. Sodium nitrate is more suitable for neutral or acidic soil, but not for saline alkali soil. For crops, it is often used in sugar beet crops.

The application methods of sodium nitrate  mainly include the following:

1.It is most suitable for topdressing. After sodium nitrate is applied to the soil, it can quickly dissolve and dissociate into sodium ions and nitrate ions, which can be absorbed and utilized by crops. It should be emphasized that when sodium nitrate is used as topdressing, it should be applied in a small amount and in several times, so as to avoid the leaching of nitrate nitrogen.

2.In arid areas, sodium nitrate can be used as base fertilizer, but it should be applied deeply, preferably mixed with rotten organic fertilizer, so the effect will be better.

3. Long term application of sodium nitrate  is easy to cause soil hardening. In order to prevent this problem, sodium nitrate should be applied together with organic fertilizer or calcium fertilizer such as calcium superphosphate.

Attention shall be paid to the following points when applying sodium nitrate:

Paddy field and saline alkali land should not be used.

Southern tea gardens should not be applied, because tea trees are suitable for acidic soil, sodium nitrate is a physiological alkaline fertilizer, and it is easy to leach in the south.
